Fiery El Capitan
One of Yosemite’s most amazing spectacles is the natural Firefall on the east face of El Capitan, which occurs around the second week of February. The Firefall effect is triggered when the setting sun illuminates upper Horsetail Fall. Several conditions must align. Temperatures must be warm enough to keep Horsetail Fall flowing and the sky must be clear at sunset to light up Yosemite Firefall, causing an orange and red glow at sunset for about ten minutes.
