Stunning Liberty Cap

Impressive Liberty Cap is a granite dome towering over Nevada Fall in Yosemite National Park. Lying adjacent to Nevada Fall on the John Muir Trail, it rises 1,700 feet from the base of the fall. Nevada Fall on the Merced River drops 594 feet and is recognized by its curved shape where turbulent water on the lower cliff face produces significant mist. The whitewater effect led to its name, being derived from an old Spanish word meaning “snowy.”
