Radiant Yosemite Valley – Behind the Scenes

Initially, wanting to create some landscape designs that would work well over a fireplace or headboard, I sought after an image that would really take advantage of the widescreen format. Ultimately, my passion lead me to one of my favorite mountain locations in California full of breathtaking vistas from nearly every location in the park.  The logical conclusion was to depict the tunnel view with the sun setting, the hills aglow, probably the most famous view of Yosemite Valley.  From this location you can see El Capitan, Half Dome and Bridalveil Fall rising high above the valley floor.  With the large format and all the variety of colors on each mountain and their various sections awash in light, this labor of love took around three months to complete.  This turned out to be one of my favorite paintings.
