If I Could Somehow... Harness Time, it Just Might Work. I'm Getting Back to the Painting!
It had been nice this summer to have some dedicated time at home to work on painting some of the scenes I designed and have had ready to paint for awhile. I was originally planning to retire from teaching high school art at the end of the last school year; but when everything hit, I felt it would be best not to make any dramatic changes. Thus, I ended up deciding to continue on with my enjoyment for teaching. However, this new arena of teaching online is exponentially more challenging. I had to completely rethink and redesign all of my lessons for each of my classes so that students would be able to learn and complete all of the work with the most basic of supplies available around their homes. I began work to redesign my first semester lessons several weeks before school started. I have not had much free time to do anything outside of teaching, grading, meetings and creating new lessons until about a week and a half ago.
Now with a comfortable lead on the semester, I have finally been able to get my newest painting drawn out. I have been looking forward to painting this image for quite awhile. This will be only my second desert based painting, but I have more to come from my various travels. I worked on this design a little while back while I was waiting for my father to come out of a heart valve surgery. My father was a real cowboy and loved watching the old westerns. With all those connections and the western theme, I have a fondness for this image and am looking forward to going back to the painting of this design. Keep an eye out for Sprawling Monument Valley.
