Going Back to the Past

After doing some reading, I recently discovered some fascinating information on one of my favorite examples of Craftsman beauty, which was heavily influenced by Japanese architecture and designed by the Greene brothers.  When it was built in 1908, the Gamble House cost $50,400.  The entire project including the house, garage, furnishings and landscaping came to a total of $79,000.  Supposedly, the stain glass door alone originally cost $1100, which was slightly less than the cost of a two bedroom home at that time.
