That Initial Spark

In order to shine a little light on how this all took off, I thought I would reveal the genesis of this fervent endeavor to create these landscape paintings.  I began my first series of paintings in conjunction with the remodel transition of my home into the architectural style of the Arts & Crafts.  As I began trying to determine all the finishing materials for my home, the idea crystallized that I should come up with a theme for each of the bathrooms and kitchen which all needed counter and tile work.  I decided to take each room and apply a specific Region of California to be used as the guiding direction: the kitchen (the valley), the master bath (the mountains) and 2 guest baths (the ocean & desert).  In thinking about how to decorate the house, I thought of an artist whose work I admired.  However, the paintings weren’t exactly what I was looking for.  As I contemplated what would work best, I knew what I would like to see; I knew how to paint and decided to design and create the artwork myself …and so this passion was ignited.
